Thumbs up

Here is a very in depth detail on a rare Corvette (by some pro detailers). There are a ton of pictures, so you might have to refresh a few times. These guys are good.

60+ hours on a Vette DUW? nah DSL warning!

Randy, that is an amazing job. i also imagine a couple grand, but worth it when listing a car of that value for sale.

Holy fucking shit. Also, holy fucking orange peel on the hood, but good Lord that car looks AMAZING afterwards. Night and day. I was paying close attention to how he dealt with the lower rear rockers behind the tires. That's pretty beat up on mine, but I'm terrified of trying to wetsand. Noticed that he used ZAIO for a LOT of stuff, and used Z5, Z6, and Z8!

Isn't that level of work just unbelievable? I can only hope to be that good.

I have been learning a lot from the professionals like the guys that did that Vette. It may seem boring and tedious to some, but there are a few of us that really enjoy it when they take the time to list the products and steps used in their details.

That is why each car that I do brings different challenges, yet seems to go smoother after studying the pros methods.

A good detail will help resale, too. My wife had a Ford Ranger that was nickel and dimeing her (we were dating at this point) and we thought of trading it in. She found a Z71 she liked, so we agreed to bring the Ranger back to the dealer to discuss the trade. The dealer called his used car guys for an estimate and told him "This thing is really nice. You're detailers will just get it dirty! It is ready for the lot as-is." The other sales guys were calling people telling them about "this really clean Ranger that just came in on a trade" before we even left the dealership in the new truck.

I know you do amazing work, but I'd REALLY be impressed if you could clean up my grille and hood. I'm putting Berg's bumper cover on when the car comes out next spring and it will look better than the rest of the damn car! I'd like to come over some time next season and have you learn me how to use the PC.

I'm afraid your car may need more than the Porter Cable. It would take the rotary most likely and possible some wet sanding. I'll have to look at it closer next time I see it.
