Oh yes it's real. It's owned by the Two Harbors police department up north. Here's another picture.

Local Cops in Virginia Minnesota have a 96 Impala SS "DARE" car.

Whats the point of those cars. I mean, really, are we teaching kids to stop using drugs by putting big decals on the sides of mustangs?

The dare program itself has many flaws and is a waist of money, but why a dare mustang??

<Kid> oooooh a pretty car, it says dare. I must not use drugs now.

Am I the only one who see's no logic in this. Police department brain wizards at work.

(sorry, I'm not a big fan of the police)

that car is stupid.
brian, i think that is the message they are trying to put out... associate a "cool" car with not using drugs. whether it works or not......... different story.

ok, I'm sorry, but when I saw the classic (stingray style type sorta) Vette Dare car with the sweet light bar (not a ghey light bar like that one) and the SWEET red white and blue paint job...I decided not to use drugs ever. They wrecked that car :( Now i'm a pothead :D

Ok, so not hardly...but they did wreck the car. Moorhead PD (I think) has a 80s vette dare car.

Most of if not all of those cars are police repos/impounds/seizures and really cost next to very little. Granted there's money in the equipment on it, but it's a fully capable pursuit vehicle (that was how the vette in fargo was wrecked)

Cool + Dare = no drugs
However, I'm just not getting my rocks off on that stang. Needs better paint and the COOL light bar on it :)
and 18s and a blower and slicks and nawz and a turbo or 3 and an exhaust and a big hood and a type R sticker

Dubbsy (trust me, I'm drug free....other than the contact high I get walkin in the dorm hallway :|)

or just flowmaster stickers like me, and it'd be cool.

so........ you're not a heavy drug user??? huh? <scratches head in confusion>

hehe, nope.

I just Look like shaggy...don't take after him though.

Bashin' the 5.0? :O They have plenty of balls. At least it's something different than a Crown Vic. Now the lightbar could be a bit smaller, but a Mustang cop car is sweet. If you were the cop driving it, would you complain? I think not... I say "Good Job" to the Police Department for using a car that's out of the norm for police vehicles. Remember the old Special Service stangs? Those were cool...

Actually if memory serves, typically the DARE cars are seized vehicles from drug busts. At least it "was" that way in florida a few years ago. Brevard county sheriff's office had a Viper and a hummer that were decked out to the max with that cheesy crap!

I dunno guys, I'm cool with that gay looking DARE Mustang.

I think if it convinces one kid to be drug free I'm cool with it. I promise they did not purchase that vehicle with the expressed purpose of using it for DARE.

I just saw a kid today with a DARE shirt, and it kinda made me feel warm inside. Call me a big softie. DARE affected me bigtime when I went through it in 5th grade..

Hey now, My 94 GT seems just as quick as my girlfriends 01 GT. Just because the advertised horsepower is a lot lower on the 94's they're not as slow as you might think!!

I could easily beat her in her 01 GT. She doesn't have the quick shifting skills like me!! She didn't even know how to drive a 5-speed when she bought the car. I had to drive it home from the dealership!! And she even learned how to drive a stick in her mustang too!

man hate to say it but there is eather something wrong with her car or your underestamating what a close race is, iv been in more then a few healthy 94-95 gt five speeds and they are nothing like the 99 and up gt's, imho they would smoke the 5 liter anyday

What I'm saying is when I drive her car, then drive mine, her's doesn't seem much faster. I've never really "raced" a 99+ mustang before. My 94 seems to have a lot more torque.
